Caltech Diversification Initiative through Veteran Education (DIVE)

Applications Due:
April 10, 2024

Apply

The California Institute of Technology is excited to invite applications for the Diversification Initiative through Veteran Education (DIVE), a ten-week summer research program in synthetic biology specifically designed for veterans pursuing research-based degrees. This initiative seeks individuals passionate about molecular biology and related areas, ready to dedicate themselves entirely to this immersive experience. Note that participants must commit their full attention to the program, with outside employment prohibited during this time.

Our selection focuses on veteran status, with the goal of integrating enlisted veterans into academia to enhance their research capabilities, expand their professional networks, and facilitate interactions with Caltech and industry experts. For any questions about the application process, contact [email protected].

To apply, submit an online application, a brief cover letter, curriculum vitae, a brief description of your writing sample (example of student's scientific writing style preferred), a personal statement (500 word max), and an unofficial transcript. Two letters of recommendation are also required, with submission instructions provided upon applying.

Preference is given to applicants with enlisted military backgrounds, but all eligible veterans are encouraged to apply. The program offers academic and research opportunities, along with financial support including a $7,740 stipend, $260 for travel, and a $2,000 housing supplement for those utilizing on-campus housing.
